Dance your rainy blues away

Being cooped up at home is enough to get anyone down. So, time to dance your rainy blues away by joining our next term of classes for children and adults!

Starting Tuesday 22 October, this new term will run for 8 weeks, offering all the old faves, plus some new options for classes and sign ups.

So, what IS new?

We’re so glad you asked!

Here’s what’s new to VAPA this term:

  • Ballet for adults. Think that ballet isn’t for you? If so, it’s time to let go everything you know, because Kate‘s holistic approach to adult ballet steps outside the box.
  • Private group classes. Save money by reducing our workload and organising your own private group!
  • Dancewear and shoes. We’re now taking orders for dancewear and shoes! Read more about that here.
  • Introducing Seesaw. From the start of term, we’ll be using Seesaw to enhance your experience of our dance classes. Read more about that here.

The perfect activity to help your kids grow!

VAPA’s dance program runs year round, offering fun and enriching opportunities for your kids to grow. While many schools are focused solely on helping kids develop as dancers, we prefer to focus on the whole child! Therefore, in addition to offering your kids the chance to hone their craft, we also place a strong emphasis on boundaries, communication, teamwork, and social development.

Discover a fun new way to express yourself!

VAPA’s classes and workshops for adults cover a range of different dance styles. While most of our courses are aimed at beginners, we welcome dance enthusiasts of all skill levels.

Whether you learn from Kate, or one of our amazing guest teachers, you can be certain to be welcomed into a safe and inclusive space. Kate knows from experience how challenging it is to express yourself in a harsh and critical environment, which is why she will always strive to provide the very opposite of that for her students.

Because we’re committed to ensuring our classes remain accessible to people with less means, we now have a private option for groups of up to 15 people!

Here’s how it works:

You organise a group.

You choose the class length and time. However, please note that scheduling is subject to the availability of both the studio and teacher.

You appoint a group captain. That person will act as point of contact, and work with us to:

  • Arrange the schedule;
  • Communicate important information between VAPA and group members; and
  • Collect fees and make payments on behalf of the group.

Because this cuts down the cost of advertising and reduces our workload, we’ll pass those savings onto you by offering a low, fixed rate for your classes when you pay upfront for a term.

But what does that mean?

Allow us to explain.

When you pay for the whole term in advance, you pay a set price per class—regardless of how many students there are in your group. That means that for bigger groups, it works out to a low price, per person, per class!

And the best part is…

Classes will be tailored to you!

At VAPA, we just love new adventures, and pride ourselves on being adaptable. Moreover, just because we’re not offering something now, it doesn’t mean that we can’t.

In fact, we’re ready to start loads of different classes, based on demand!

Here’s a few ideas to get you started…

Want to learn dance? Here’s what we can offer:
  • Classical ballet
  • Modern and contemporary dance
  • Tap
  • Jazz
  • Hip hop
  • Latin and ballroom social dance (rumba, cha cha, samba, jive, merengue, Argentine tango, mambo, salsa, English tango, waltz, quickstep and foxtrot)
Concerned about health and fitness?

We can provide dance fitness classes adapted from any of the dance styles mentioned above. Moreover, Kate can easily draw on her knowledge and experience as personal trainer, and incorporate other methods of fitness training.

Anything we can do to motivate you to achieve your health and fitness goals!

Interested in performing arts other than, or in addition to, dance?

We can also tailor classes that incorporate the following:

  • Singing
  • Ukulele
  • Piano
  • Guitar
  • Drama

Using any or all of the above, we’ll design a class just for you. Or, if you’re looking for the complete package, you can combine song, dance AND drama into one explosive performance art class!

Whatever your desire, we’ll do our best to design something that meets your needs. And if we can’t, we’ll do everything we can to help you find a service provider who can.

Want to boost your English language skills?

Groups of Vietnamese learners can also choose to place added emphasis on the development of English language skills.  Classes of 1.5 to 2 hours are recommended for this option to ensure adequate time can be spent on both learning the skills of the craft, and vocabulary and structures surrounding those skills.

Learn in the comfort of friends…

Learning how to express yourself creatively can seem quite daunting! By organising your own group, you can rest assured you’ll be learning in the safety of a network of people you know and feel comfortable with!
